As I am sitting on the couch tonight honestly feeling blah (stomach bug) I was thinking about the how our kids know so much about us and we don’t even realize it. I didn’t say anything to my kids today about feeling yucky but after receiving a text saying “sorry to bother you the girls told me you were feeling bad” I realized the kids do catch on to everything. What is the point…well if they could tell in my actions today that I was not feeling well it means they can tell when we are sad, angry, upset, disappointed and happy too. The next time I have a yucky morning and really struggling to get to work I know when I get in front of the kiddos I will look and act 100% because that is what they want to see and that is what they DESERVE to see. Thanks kiddos for reminding me of what relationships are all about.
What an amazing start to our journey this year! This is my favorite time of the year. Our students are excited and eager for learning, this excitement is truly contagious. I have had a chance to hear about the adventures students had this summer, WOW I am jealous! Our new TJ tigers are AMAZING and they are getting adjusted to our routines and expectations. As the lead learner at TJ I get the opportunity to be involved in all of our classrooms. I absolutely love to see our kids discover and have fun learning.
We are a partnership at TJ and your support is needed. Please reach out if you would like to help out at TJ we love to have community support with reading, math and working with our students. If you would like to have lunch with your child please let us know. It is very special to see our families having lunch together.
I know this is going to be a great year. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s learning. Have a SUPER year.
Although school has been closed and your family may be stuck at home, those afflicted by blood cancers still need of your help! Right now TJES is participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients program and since today students are unable to bring their spare change donations into their classes, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone loses their battle. Thanks to the support of people like you, doctors are getting closer to finding a cure every day! In the 1960’s the 5-year survival rate for children under the age of 20 with ALL (the most common form of leukemia) went from a mere 3% to nearly 95% today! Your support is critical to help us find a cure and I hope you will join us in the fight against blood cancers!!!

Pennies for Patients has always been a great event for TJ. During Pennies we honor a couple of our TJ tigers and all of the other amazing kids for their courage and perseverance during their struggles with Leukemia. To show our support we collect any amount of change over the next few weeks and at the end of our Pennies collection have a very special celebration involving a lot of duct tape. This year we have created an online page specifically for our school. On the page, parents/relatives/friends can specify which child and teacher should get credit for the donation so that donations can be credited toward classroom competitions.
The donation page for parents to use is http://kyc.sy.llsevent.org/ThomasJeffersonElementarySchool
Thank you in advance for your support. Here are some pictures from last year’s celebration.
